Although my personal preference is to use natural wood for my bushcraft knife handles, some very beautiful handles are made from plastic products such as Micarta. This is a phenolic resin impregnated into some semiporous material such as wood, paper, linen cloth, or cotton. It comes in a wide range of colours and textures, and some types rival the finest woods and ivory for visual beauty. The advantage of Micarta and other plastics is that they don`t shrink and expand with changes in humidity, and they are very resistant to splitting and cracking. Please note, there is a £20 supplement for bushcraft knives made with Micarta handles.
